Description
Alright. Please read. The Toronto trade was a suggestion from another user. Not really sure how I feel bout it.

Miles Wood offers a ton of speed. That could make up for the loss of Zucker. He could also play top 9 minutes. Good PK addition.

Not convinced on Simmonds at all, but he was the best right-handed free agent RW that wasn't Mark Stone or a Jordan Eberle. When Kaprizov comes over, God willing, he would take that RW spot from whomever would fill it in the meantime.

Nino could benefit from playing on the left. Eriksson-Ek could continue developing on his scoring touch in Iowa.

Just messing around here, but this team is pretty solid all around. NJD probably wouldn't make that deal anyways. Also almost signed Pominville to a 1 year to piss you all off.

I made the Toronto suggestion based on the rumour that the Leafs are interested in Jeff Skinner (I'd much prefer Zucker over Skinner cause he under control longer at only $5.5M) but an important note for this move, I mentioned Toronto would only make something like this if they could find another dman to replace Zaitsev like a TVR, or Pesce from Carolina or someone else. But mainly if the Leafs are looking to add to their offence as reported, I'd prefer a two way winger thats under team control that already has a 30 goal season, and could put up more on a line with Matthews and Nylander. So don't rip this guy apart too much for the idea

not really thinking the New Jersey deal is likely. Devils just signed Wood this last summer and he's a good, young power forward. Coyle hasn't performed much and Foligno's contract isn't the greatest. And Greg Pateryn isn't really much of a trade. 3 stars at best

Massive underpay for Zucker.

Terrible idea with Nelson and Simmonds.

Jeff Skinner is 2nd in the league in goals. You still "much prefer" zucker?

Coyle is flying right now at center, that'll help his value this summer.

Foligno is Foligno. Over-paid by like 800k.

Pateryn on our 2nd/3rd pairing is a huge reason why we are a top 5 team on D. Team friendly deal. Would definitely get a 4th at least.

Gotcha though. Peace.

Dude, as much as I want to agree with you, Zucker blows right now. I'd be happy to get a 1st rounder+

a very late 1st, a b prospect and a cap dump at your deepest position for a 3 time 20 goal scorer (once 30) on a reasonable contract and still only 26 is a horrible return.

It's not all about how many goals a guy scores in one season.

Skinner is a pending UFA who is reportedly asking for $10M a season on his next contract. He's a pure goal scorer, but is at best average in his own end. He'd be a 3 month rental on the Leafs.

Zucker is locked up for 4 more years after this season at only $5.5 and scored 30 goals last season, while still playing above average defence. This season is a bit of a down season for him from the offensive side, but he's still on pace for 20 goals and reliable defence. Put him beside Matthews and Nylander and he'll come close to 30-35 goals each season with good defence.

So would I rather Zucker than Skinner? .. yes. in a heartbeat.

Lol, skinner will resign in buffalo for well under 10 million.

He is fine in his own end and is about to be a 4 time 30 goal scorer at the same age as zucker, who has 1.

& if he does, then he'll be a good fit for Buffalo. But I just don't think he is for Toronto. I'm not saying Zucker's better or Skinner's better. That's debatable. Leafs just don't need an elite scorer like Skinner. But a 30 goal scorer who is much better defensively than Skinner and is also probably $2-$3M cheaper than Skinner? .. every day of the year I'll take that.

No way is Simmonds only signing for 3 years, Simmonds on the open market probably gets at least 5 x 5 if not more. He'll be looking at a decent contract here.
