What is your infatuation with Lucic and that atrocious contract? Are you the one guy in the world that likes AMac's contract because that is what Lucic's is but worse!

Can't be broad street time if you can't skate fast enough to catch and hit someone!

Doesn't the team already have this problem? Who cares about the new cap hits if the team is still clearly 3 to 4 years away anyway. If you give this management cap space, they'll use it to sign another JVR or an AMAC. The prospects they've been accumulating are nice but it's becoming clear the development path is going to be slow and it would be wise to start using the salary cap to assist the Flyers in accumulating more assets for the future of the organization rather than spending it on the current roster.

But I guess you're the guy that thinks they are just a piece away.

No, I don't think we are a piece away but loading up on absolute trash is just not smart! We don't need to load up on draft picks as we have enough high end talent in the system currently and can sustain that with our current picks. It is time to get high end current talent like a Stone or Panarin, not a guy with the speed of a sloth.

JVR was supposed to be their high end scorer that pushes them over the top. Instead his contract has all of the fairly clear indicators of being a mistake and an albatross moving forward.

Other issues.. some key prospects don't look like they'll be quite as good as hoped. There has to be concerns that Konecny, Provorov, and Patrick are not taking the hoped for path. Productive players yes but not stars and that's a big issue for the direction of this team. Hart looks to be the goalie of the future and that's good. Based on how this season has gone the most important acquisition they have coming is the 2019 1st Round pick. They still have to have desperation to find that true #1 defenseman and they're going nowhere until they find one.

I don't think we have anything to worry about with TK, Provy or Patrick. They are young and there is always a learning curve. Also I feel like our current style does not fit JVR's as he is a Simmonds type player and needs to stand in front and cause a ruckus. Putting Simmer and JVR on the same line is redundant. JVR played way better when he was playing with G.

I wouldn't trust JVR to be anywhere near the net when it matters and the game is being played physically. We've seen this act from him before. Toronto saw it and now for some reason we decided we liked it so much we went back for it.

The team has also shown a good ability of generating offense off the rush. Simmonds has killed nice passing sequences because he just doesn't have a good finishing shot on a line rush. He also doesn't handle the puck well on his off wing (left wing) when he plays with Voracek. Simmonds doesn't have a line he meshes with at all right now.

I agree that Provorov, Konecny, or Patrick will be fine NHL players. It's legit to be concerned that none of the three will be the next big star the team needs. Provorov may be a good #2 defenseman. Ghost may be a fine #4. Sanheim could be the #1 for all we know or just a nice #3. Hagg looks like a solid #5 with Morin as the #6. The problem is they're all playing a little over their head right now. It'd be nice to have a #1 to steady the ship and the player may not be in the Flyers talent pool right now.

What is the point of this given the fact that the best thing you get in return for taking these bad contracts is Puljujarvii & Nichushkin? They don't need anymore middling prospects or 2nd/3rd round picks.

I like Puljujarvi. The Voracek deal is actually to get out of his contract and culture/chemistry change.
