ANA can't afford Chara, Stamkos doesn't want to play wing, Hargrove isn't ready. I think Myers and Vatanen could work in Boston. Having Krug and Vatanen on the same pairing would be difficult in the defensive zone. Forwards look pretty good, defense is soft and will get pushed around.

I agree having Krug and Vatanen together might not be ideal. They certainly can tinker with that. Hargrove - I just plugged him in there. I'm sure they can find a veteran or another young guy to play on the 4th line for that same cap hit. The money on Chara might be more realistic then you think - his cap hit for 16/17 is $6.9 and then it goes down to $4 mill for 17/18 season. If Anaheim resigns Vatanen they'll be paying him somewhere around $9 mill over the next 2 seasons. So perhaps they may have an appetite for paying $11 mill for Chara, over that same period.

As for the trades not making sense....I disagree. Chara, a puck moving prospect, and a 1st rounder for Vatanen sounds like a haul for Anaheim. The Myers trade would probably need more work. But, I was thinking of it from the perspective that Myers may be a movable part for them since they just paid Big Buff $7.2 mill per year. They have a lot of money invested at D. I think a package could be put together for him. Griffiths would be a regular on Winnipeg's top 6 for a cheap cap hit.
