Description

Anisimov getting traded for Danault is very unlikely, but I decided to go with this option instead of going out and signing Duchene/Dzingel like all other 2019-20 teams. Duchene, to me, is probably out of the picture for us anyways, since his original reason to go to Ottawa was to win (lol), I doubt he'd want to come to a team who is likely to finish bottom-5 in the league.

The defense is very open for next season as well, with Mitchell and Boqvist, in my opinion, the most ready to play, with Krys and Beaudin also having a shot. I think only 2 at most make the team next season. Boqvist will more than likely be one of them, and then it's either gonna be between Mitchell and Beaudin.

Here's the hard part for me with the defense. Chad Krys...185 lbs Ian MItchel...173 lbs Nicolas Beaudin...176 lbs Adam Boqvist...181 lbs. None of them taller than 7'. Yes, I get that they're all young and each of them can put on some weight themselves, but it doesn't happen over night. I don't think we're going to get fair trade value for Murphy so I'd just keep him. He can play opposite one of the younger guys. Murphy doesn't play LD a ton, but he's more likely to play opposite side than Seabrook. I just don't see a rebuild happening overnight...even if we do sign Panarin.

I think we just let the kids play. Murphy is good, yes, but I don’t think he’s the guy we have to mentor them. I know the D on my team here is off, but I think we should trade Murphy for either a 3rd liner or a Top 6 LHD. Boqvist and Mitchell have to be starting, at least at the beginning of next season, for me. I was looking over some names and Edler was one that I thought could potentially play at 2LD with one of the two. This defense is a mess, but somehow in a good way. There’s much better ways to go about it than what I know, but we’ll see.
