COL is going to be forced to make some decisions about some of their RFA's (specifically Rantenan) and have some good young offensive C's in their pipeline. Jost isn't going to pass McKinnon as a number 1 C, so his ceiling on COL is looking like a 2nd line C. Anisimov plays that roll at a locked in contact for the next three years at a decent rate. Looking at their long term outlook, it is going to be difficult for them to re-sign Jost. The trade is made weighing out both short term and long term benefits. Anisimov has been a proven playoff producer, shown he can play well with skilled players, brings depth down the middle and can be used in matchup situations if need be. He brings a good amount of value.
After looking at the trade, COL would not likely have to throw in a third round pick and CHI would also have to throw in another prospect or roster player. I'll make the edit.
