Well, I mainly made this to see if Gardiner will fit. The cap is rumoured to be between 82-85mil depending on the PA (not to be center of the hockey universe, but the farther TO goes into the playoffs I bet will reflect in the cap increasing). So went with the middle ground of that.

I don't buy the 9-10mil talk for Marner, I think that's a guy prime for a hometown discount. Makes too much sense for him and Nylander to make the same, and have Matthews and Tavares make the same. That whole "buying into the team" thing. Kaspari.. he's tricky but small sample size of dominance usually means a bridge deal.

If Gardiner wants to stay, I think he has to keep playing as poorly as he has so 4.1-4.5 doesn't seem so outlandish. Either way though, like every trade on this site, Brown has to go. I've long thought he is exactly what Edmonton needs (plus he's good pals with McDavid) and rumour has it that Katz is getting tight pursed and there's been many layoffs in OEM. Taking on Sekera's contract (1st class ticket to robidas island) to get Klefbom gives us an adequate Gardiner replacement for that price.

In the end I'm just bored and also know Dubas really liked McLeod, so would have liked to put in this hypothetical scenario. But Oilers are super high on the kid, may as well ask for Yamo or Bouchard.
