Pretty decent team. I just think that if thats what it takes to get Yakupov, i think another team will offer something better. I still don't believe that Yak was available for a 2nd rounder last year at the deadline. No one taking him for a 2nd rounder in a top heavy/weak overall draft is just silly. I think that was all used to make him think he has little value so that he would reconsider wanting to be traded because Chiarelli knows he wouldn't get his true value for him given what was going on with him lately. Its a really smart move on his part to help get him to stay and increase his value so that when they do trade him, they can get closer to true value.

Pretty sure EDM are looking for someone a little better then Merrill. Not enough to get Yak. Your second pairing D might have a hard time playing actual defense. Nice roster though, good job.

Do you think NJD would entertain a trade that included Blackhawk forwards Andrew Shaw (RFA, should get about 3.5 million cap hit) and Bryan Bickell (4 million cap hit for 2016/17 season). Do you think NJD would give up a mid round pick? Any other Blackhawks depth players that would benefit NJD? Awesome defense you put together above. Old school Devils!

I think if NJD was trading for one of those Chicago players then they wouldn't have to give anything up of value. It would be doing Chicago a favor more than anything.

Also looking back at it that second pairing D definitely would worry me in terms of actually playing defense. I really hope Severs can have a nice bounce back year.
