Gauthier is better than Scherback and Bean has much higher ceiling than Cale Fleury although he is good as well. I dont think Carolina does that..

I considered that ... I'd through another or a different pick in there, maybe a 3rd instead of 4th. Maybe drop the forwards and just deal for Bean for Fleury + a pick?

Very interesting trade, personally I don’t think the canes bite on it. Fluery was a 3rd round pick and scherbak was drafted 26th. Bean was 13th and gauthier was 21st too.if the pick becomes a second and a 3rd then the canes say yes possibly. Bean is the best d man in there system so maybe they would want more like a 1st and a 2nd. I would like to see the fluerys playing together.

Hyperbole None of the players involved have proven a thing at the NHL level. None have even dominated the AHL level yet for that matter. Cale Fleury is a great prospect but plays the wrong side of the ice which is the only reason to consider trading him for Bean. No 1st round picks need be exchanged here.

It would need to be different and better forward and better pick. Also Caroline doesnt need another RHD with McKeown and Fox coming up in year or two.

My counteroffer: Ryan Poehling and Charlie Lindgren for Jake Bean and Julien Gauthier. Great talents coming each way providing depth on position of need for each team. Mostly the main pieces Poehling and Bean.

I considered dropping the Sherback/Gauthier part of the deal, and doing Fleury + the Columbus 2nd for Bean + a 2020 5th.

Or this could be interesting too. I think it would be worth Bergevin's time to consider it

Bean has a much higher ceiling so it should be a first if it is just the two of them. Sherbak is pretty equal with gauthier so they would bite on that

MTL now has great prospect C depth with Suzuki and co. in it.. and Carolina great LHD and also RHD depth. Which means that they can trade what they have more of for something that they dont have a lot of

Bean is far better prospect than Fleury. 13th pick in the draft and projects to be a borderline 1st pair type. Fleury 87th pick projects to be 4th or 5th type of d man. Gauthier and Sherbak are both disapointments at this point but Gauthier is at least improving at AHL Sherbak is going the other way.

Honestly, Canes would not even consider your offer.

I would add a 2nd, but a 1st is too risky, particularly since the Habs season has had some ups and downs so that pick could be close or in the top 10 by the end of the year. Bean is an interesting prospect but we would need a guaranteed top 4 D-man as soon as next season to make a 1st worth it.
