They say that about defenseman, oh and centers, as well. I mean, there have been a number of examples of untested unproven goalies getting called up an emergency basis. So, while the Flyers don't have a goalies injury bug yet, perhaps they get him in a few games, at least for the experience. He was a stellar goalie in Junior and for team Canada. Maybe, as a safety net, the Flyers try to nab Ryan Miller from the Ducks?
lol no they really don't say that. I mean yeah, statistically Defense and Centers hit their physical, and therefore performance, peaks after the age of 22. But these players can still be effective players as teenagers AND they're sheltered by veteran players playing around them and they can be hidden up and down the lineup. Goalies are literately on their own. Can you Imagine being a 20-year-old goalie getting lit up at home? Fans are booing, Veteran's are pissed off, etc etc etc.. That could ruin him. And it doesn't help his development to be a back-up.
Junior hockey and professional hockey are very different. A lot of goalies dominated junior but are/were not able to make the transition. (parson, Campbell, Fugale, Torkawski)
Don't get me wrong, I think Hart will be a stud. They just need to give him time.
