He hasn't signed a short-term deal. He isn't feinting to play in Europe.

He did get an offer-sheet, and Dubas only realized it when Nylander didn't immediately sign the bridge deal Dubas offered after his Switzerland trip.

If signing Nylander was important to the future, or even just important to signing Matthews + Marner, it was a f__k up of colossal proportions by GM Dumbass.

If Dubas had at least offered a bridge deal earlier, he would still have had time to drum up a trade that pays better than a 1st+3rd. But no, he held out and tried to make his mark as a young GM who thought he was in a bluffing contest
