Sabres are thin at rhd, part of the reason ristolainen is playing huge minutes is because bogosian and nelson are our 2 other rhd- one is frequently bad and frequently injured, the other is young and probably a bottom pair guy if everything goes right. I would say the closer value for jp is alexander nylander. Both are 20, jp was 4th in his class, nylander was 8th. Neither set the world on fire right away, nylander may be turning a corner. Its tough because its still mostly potential with these guys and neither organization did these kids any favors.
I dont hate the idea of moving ristolainen for a young, talented forward, but it would have to be later this year. I would need to see dahlin or pilut regularly play their off side- well, before moving ristolainen. Dahlin is 18 and has played 13 games, pilut is killing it in the ahl, but still hasnt played an nhl game yet.
