Description

These moves mean that the Rangers will enter the 2019 offseason with almost 23 million in cap space. DeAngelo, Pionk, Buchnevich, Scherbak, Gourde, and Lettieri will need to be resigned. Scherbak and Lettieri will not get more than their previous contracts. Buchnevuch will probably get a 3 million upgrade in a bridge deal, Pionk and DeAngelo won't get more than two million more each considering Nurse's bridge deal, and Gourde will get 4-5 million more. That leaves 11-12 million left to sign Panarin with. It won't compromise the future as retained salary, buyouts, and a cap rise will open up 5.5 million more the following year and 9.5 the next with Staal's contract expiring.

Do you mind explaining why?

Rangers lose: two cap dumps (Belesky and Smith), Namestnikov and Claesson. Rangers acquire: Gourde, Sceviour, and Scherbak. So an obvious win as Gourde>Namestnikov and Sceviour + Scherbak>cap dump and Claesson
Rangers lose: prospects Wall, Keane, Day, and Gropp. Rangers acquire: Allard and 5.5 million dollars of cap space. Gropp+Day have struggled, and Wall+Keane are unproven. Plus the cap space = Panarin so it's a win. Rangers lose: a 2021 7th. Rangers acquire: a 2019 2nd and 4th. Mathematically an easy win. Especially for a team in rebuild mode.
The Methot, Benn, Haley, and Lack contracts expire next offseason, so that open up $7,475,000 dollars of cap room. If NYR doesn't get Panarin, they could resign Zuccarello, Hayes, or Claesson. I'm just wondering where in this process you disagree with me.

Namestnikov, Smith and Claesson are good players who have value. The only cap dumps we have are Staal and McQuaid and you even retained on McQuaid lol.

You came out of dealing 3 top 9 forwards and a top 4 d guy and get no 1sts or high ceiling prospects back. That's a ridiculous fail...
