That Oshie/Berglund trade is laughable. Trading an aging Kunitz who is at the end of his prime, a potential flop of a prospect in Bennet(who also has no contract and is an RFA) and a horrendous prospect in Ruopp. Sutter is really the only player in this trade worth the price tag and he is really just a Berglund copy. The Blues only save $1.2m in cap space, not including Bennet's pending contract. So really the Blues would trading for an aging depth winger and Sutter. Keep dreaming, but the only trade I can see happening is if Malkin is waives his NMC in a king's ransom deal to the Blues. And that is not going to happen unless the Pens retain a part of his salary.

I'd argue against that. Sutter's value is as high as ever. He is young and desired. While I wouldn't want Berglund, I would still argue this is fairly even. Ruopp is a prospect - the potential is there, Kunitz is on the downhill but he can still score 40 + points in a season and he's one of the best possession players on a really good possession team. Bennett can provide depth. The kid can score he just needs to shoot more.

And lets not forget how bad Armstrong really is at his job. He is well known for undervaluing assets.

I'd also point out that instead of buying out Scuds, he's gonna be traded for basically nothing while retaining 1 million. And Lovejoy needs to be in the same boat minus retaining salary. I will never understand why Rutherford traded away a talent like Simon Depres for a bum like Lovejoy.

What's really laughable is that you can see the Pens trading Malkin and even more laughable than that is that you think they would have to retain salary if they ever decided to trade him.

How is that trade laughable they are saying now its Sutter for oshie and rattie straight up. And the pens are trying to get a third line center with the deal.
