Maybe dvorak could fit better into the trade instead of Strome. This may be good for if the Leafs can't work out a deal with Willy and they are just trying to get something out of it instead of losing him to free agency, but right now the Leafs value him too high.

    2 things wrong with that

1 JC is a LHD and Leafs have PLENTY of those.

    2 Nylander is much better.

Rielly, Hainsey, Gardiner, Dermott, Borgman, Rosen, Nielsen, Sandin, Marincin, Gordeev, Greenway, Kral and OConnell. you only need to fill 3 LHD spots. Next year Hainsey and Gardiner are gone that leaves Rielly, Dermott and either Borgman or Rosen as 3rd pair, or both cause all 4 of them have experience playing the right side. The D core will be fine in 1-2 years. I think it'll be okay or at least good enough this year even if im alone in that. I'm not going to say Leafs win the cup but theyre making the playoffs (aside from a Matthews or Tavares injury or Freddy). Even then maybe. Any team that makes the playoffs has a shot at the cup. Look at the shitty Sens they were a goal away from the SCF.

I dont know enough about chychrun to say if he'd be an upgrade on those guys or not but from what I know he does have huge potential. By as a non leaf fan in the toronto area I see them alot and dont think they got better this year if anything they stayed on par... I think the only reason they make the playoffs is because they are in the easiest division this year... sure they added tavares but they lost bozak, komarov, van reimsdyk, nylander wont be up to speed once he gets signed, hainsey is 1 year older, zaitsev played terrible, and Anderson has to keep up his all star play all season

Trading Demers cuts into the D core, which is why I wouldn't move him

What's up with Strome? Is he going to play in the NHL or not? I recall him being drafted high, but he hasn't see much ice time.

they do have some other defensemen in the system like capobianco, trevor murphy and robbie russo that can fill the role as a 7th d man or if the coyotes feel like one of the is better than connautun then they could make them into a 6th d man

He has played a couple games here and there but really hasnt gotten into the lineup for a signifacant amount of games, he did play 10 games at the end of last season and did pt up 8 points and its looking like he will be on the roster as the third line center and then when dvorak comes back from injury then he wll be moved to the wing

The thing is the left side isn't the problem it's the right side... if you believe Toronto media which I strongly suggest you don't. Lol Zaitsev isn't nearly as bad as he was last year and I'm guaranteeing he's also better then what he was in his rookie year. Yes Hainsey is a year older but I think he will have a more limited role this year. CC is trade bait at this point to free a roster spot. Ozzy who I think will be 3rd pair with Dermott is actually looking good. Not great but you don't expect great from a 3rd pair. Just adequate and I think they could bring that. I think this team as it is now can win at least a round maybe 2.
