two trades

Description
Rangers trade shattenkirk for an elite winger they need, pull from center depth to replace shattenkirk with trouba (who is a better two way, not better offensively)

rangers have a pretty good farm system at this point:
Kravtzov
Sheshterkin
Howden
Hajek
Rykov
Miller
Lundkvist

all are still not on the team. Staal can be replaced by Hajek in the next year or two, Howden can make the jump next year, Kravtzov, Rykov and Sheshterkin can make the jump next year.

Obviously this team doesn't make too many waves this year (finish bottom 10 since it'll take a year or two for the rookies to adjust), but can afford to trade 2nd/3rd round picks since they can keep adding to their pipeline with their 1st rounders.

Next year they could buy out staal, trade spooner (for picks/prospects), trade zucc at the deadline (for picks/prospects), have enough money to sign panarin. Could look like this:

Panarin- Andersson - Nylander
Kreider - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
unknown - Chytil - Kravtsov
Vesey-Howden-Fast
Skjei - Trouba
Hajek/Rykov/Smith - Pionk
Hajek/Rykov/Smith - DeAngelo

    Holy overpay in both trades.

Rangers have no reason to trade Shattenkirk, especially with his value at an all time low. Nylander has a massive ask that the Rangers wouldn't be comfortable paying.

Trouba deal doesn't line up with Winnipeg's current needs and the two picks are a bit overkill

Shattenkirk has already said that he has no interest in playing in Canada, And the Trouba deal is nowhere close to Winnipeg's needs.

Nylander will probably get a similar deal to pastrnak, maybe a bit higher due to cap increases-- worth it to have him signed until he's 30 years old. Basically allows the rangers to have a elite player for the entirety of his prime and trade him for a high price at the last year of his deal. I would only trade shattenkirk if WPG deal goe through-- WPG needs someone to replace the stasny role from last year, hayes can do that. McQuaid can play the bottom line role that would be left empty after trouba trade. Picks are so we don't have to give up deangelo or pionk.

umm.. where did he say that? please post a link with a quote.. because it doesn't exist. i like how the rick nash quote is going towards shattenkirk... WPG is set on wings, losing trouba they would need a replacement RHD, they need someone to fill the stasny role from last years playoffs== hayes+mcquaid+picks

It was a known fact that Shattenkirk always wanted to play for his hometown Rangers, It was in the media that he didn't want to play in Canada. I'll see if a can find the link and post it.
