Better retain a lot more, Caps are still one player short.

I don't see the upside for the Caps here to be honest. They already have a logjam of potential d-men on much cheaper contracts down in the AHL who will compete for that spot. Even if Bowey theoretically is moved out they've still got guys like Hobbs, Siegenthaler, Johansson, Williams, Alexeyev, Fehervary, Ness, Lewington and at the very least another half a dozen guys who could potentially grab that spot on the bottom pair at a fraction of the cost Faulk commands. Caps defensive prospect pool is extremely deep. I don't see a deal here. Wouldn't be opposed to trading Bowey for an equal value forward prospect though. Forward prospects are the Caps foremost and IMO only weakness.

Don't see the point of this. Bura is more important than Faulk who would play 3rd pairing minutes. It would be Shatty all over again.

Why would Washington do this? They want to grow young players like Bowey and Bura. Also taking on Faulk's contract puts them in worse cap hell than they already are.

Carolina don't need Bowey back. We have 3 great RD already. Looking at this, I think Faulk would probably beat Nisky out for top 4 minutes. Faulk is also as good in one end, and better defensively then Carlson. I know he put up 50 points, yes. But Ovi Backstrom Kuznetzov, Faulk averages 40 passing to Jamie McBain, Brock McGinn and Phil Di Guseippe. I see this workng for Washington, but the value is to far off because you are sending back a piece in bowey that Carolina just simply do not need
