i don't mean to pile on here, but the sabre fan base is extremely high on mittelstadt and rightfully so. so if you're going to try and sell sabres fans on a mittelstadt trade, it better have connor mcdavid, conor mcgregor and probably connor macleod (there can be only one) in it.

Please.. Mcdavid.. Settle your horses down.. Hasn't even proven anything in the nhl yet. He will be good, but you're definitely reaching

it would have to be an overpayment Imo.. mittelstadt fits the age group of the core in buf...hes also really good

Fair enough. I was trying to create a fair trade -- one in which the most and least (but still) valuable players are on one side and the other two players are on the other (A + D should roughly equal B + C). But Kunin is also a high pick and has shown promise and is a year ahead of Mittelstadt and right now, you don't have a third defense pairing. For the value of putting good defenders around a first overall pick, see Aaron Ekblad. (Also, for that matter, Connor McDavid -- who isn't likely to see the playoffs this year, either.)

Had The Factor not been traded to STL, would this have been more plausible? I agree, tho, with the others who would want the young “core” to grow up together.

I like spurgeon, but not for mittelstadt. Hes a top 3-5 prospect in the entire league

Mitts is untouchable, almost doesn't matter what player you put in there. Eichel Dahlin and Mitts are not going anywhere for a long time. Kunin is a nice player but his ceiling is somewhere around Mitts middle ground, and while Spurgeon is a nice player also I rather slot in Borgen or Nelson than move a player of Mitts potential any day. Dahlin will not need much help, if he needs vet help to start out you can plug him in with risto or bogo (for the 40 games hes healthy).
