So here's the thought process, Mark Stone is likely not long for Ottawa. The talks right now are saying that its possible he makes it to arbitration and ends up with a one year deal from the award. That one year would cover this season, after which he will become a UFA. They would have to make some room for him to fit in, but maybe he would take a pay cut to 1-play with his brother; and 2- compete for a championship with what would be an absolutely stacked team. Brouwer will be easier to deal with only 1 year left, Frolik should be attractive to a young team looking for a veteran two-way guy, and Hamonic could fetch a decent return from a team in big need of defensemen. This would also leave just over 8M to sign a goalie, of which there are a few big names (Bobrovsky, Rinne) that will be UFA's if they don't want to go back to Mike Smith.
