Don't hate a trade with Trouba, but i think if they would offer Heponiemi, Borgstrom, and a 1st for Trouba (+extension) and Petan it would be more appealling for the Jets. I think Trouba has a ton of interest and value and teams should get it out of their minds that they can get him for cheap. He will cost a high pick and at least an A prospect or two.

I don't know how I feel about Gardiner coming to the Jets, but I understand that Leafs fans are eager to see him move. I honestly think if the Jets were to pursue any trade with the Leafs, who are desperate for a top 2-top 4 RHD, it would involve Nylander coming back. Jets have plenty of forward and D depth, and would be less interested in adding to that depth and more interested in adding an immediate impact player. Leafs fans also hate the thought of losing Nylander, but when it comes to signing Marner, Matthews and Nylander, it may be difficult/impossible to keep all 3, especially with JT locked up long term, so moving Nylander may not be the worst thing.

Maybe the first moves to a 3rd, but this trade isn't far off. Maybe one of the two prospects + trochek/petrovic + 2nd would be a slightly different angle.

No, its just a matter of fact. The Jets aren't going to be interesting in taking on contracts and average old players for their best young top pairing D man, lets be a little realistic here. The jets need all the cap space they can get for next summer if they are going to resign laine, wheeler, conner, etc. so obviously they would have zero interest in this trade.

I think Trouba is a better fit for what Buffalo needs. He’s a better Defensive Dman where Risto is a PP dude that will probably top out as a #3 in terms of ES shot impact with smaller ice time. Buffalo’s need of a PP QB is now lessened bc of Dahlin being in the fold. A Dahlin-Trouba pairing could be absolutely lethal.

If you were to ask me right now, Risto for Trouba with a 5x7M extension for JT in place for end of season, I do it. Also, as it stands now Risto is due for a raise the year after Dahlin supposedly gets mega money, so this option kind of spaces that out a bit better. I think I makes a ton of sense on both regards.
