Franzen isn't costing any cap, since he'll definitely hit LTIR (and DET will be up against it, giving them full relief). I think the only want DET trades Franzen's rights is to a team that needs to hit the salary floor, and use it as part of a dump (or an asset back). So this trade would be giving up cap space, a prospect (with good trade value), and an early pick for 2 guys MTL doesn't want, and DET doesn't need (Byron keeping Zadina and/or Ras out of the lineup, along with Svech, Benn keeping Hicketts or Hronek in GR).
