Some major salary cap issues. I think that Vatanen gets more...but I don't mind the Calgary deal..however...Ortio is probably the future there so theyll just need someone for a year or two before he takes over. JMHO.

*Edit* also I doubt Lucic would come here. Also not a fan of his game so I don't want him here.

I Agree with points made by Beltov. Some good moves made (especially the Smith buyout) and Ortio needing a little more time and mentorship. The Wings truthfully are just too loyal to buy Smith out, I wouldn't be surprised to see Cleary get paid for another year of minor hockey and don't we all just love Franzen's contract? I would be concerned with lines 3 and 4. I think your missing a little depth if you had an injury on line 1 or 2. Yes, Zetterberg played 82 games this year, but he will need a break here and there next year. I Like the Backes move, he fits in Detroit hockey. I don't think Lucic is Red Wing material. His style just doesn't fit here. Yes, Backes and Lucic are similar styles, but Lucic is on the dirty side. Bakes is more Abdelkader. On the D, I don't dislike what your doing, I like the Brodie move. It works well for both sides. However, I think the upgrade could come from a Yandle or someone similar for a little extra cash. Howard scares me, so moving Mrazek also scares me... but overall, I would say this is a decent summer for you.

Backes, White, and Lucic all on one roster? I you trying to remake the Bad Boys on Ice?

yes, by bringing in Lucic, Backes & White we're completely changing the demeanor of our team, but I think that's what the franchise needs. They've been a finesse euro lead team for many years and with the speed the young players bring I think they can afford to throw in some slower less skilled grit guys that will win some tough board battles and bring an intimidation factor. Lucic would be expensive and year 3 and 4 could be scary, but I think its a move they need to make. Of course Ken Holland would never do it, but this is the move they need to make.
