Description
VGK Gets: A Replacement for Perron and Neal with Kessel (and whatever they get from the Haula Trade)

MTL Gets: Their MUCH NEEDED center depth. After this, MTL would have Drouin, Haula, Bellerive, and Kotkaniemi. That’s pretty good...

PIT Gets: More LW impact and a team leader. A good RW. And a VGK 1st that will make for a good draft day for PIT (Two 1sts in a proclaimed deep draft). And cap space for a Guentzel (and Brassard maybe?) resign.

Good deals, very interesting. But I'm not sure VGK would accept that deal as a Pens fan that would be great if it happened but Vegas wouldn't agree to that. Good job though.

Haula isn't a center so those trades don't help them.

EDIT: Actually it looks like he did play center last season. For some reason I thought he was a winger.

If they don’t, then Bergevin definitely proves he has issues.

This is an interesting idea that makes a good case for how each team could benefit.

Unlike with the 50 trades posted every day involving Brassard, the Pens keep their center depth. They also get better on the left wing long-term while giving Daniel Sprong a top six spot where he can find success. Right wing depth is excellent with the addition of Tuch.

A guy who's only broken 40 points once in his career and is already 27 + a 2nd round pick for a top 10 LW?

Why do people conveniently forget/leave out the fact that this winger has an expiring contract?

I think it's implied at this point that he works out an extension before being moved for MTL to get max return

You conveniently forgot the blue chip center prospect that plays like a 1st round pick...

Good usage of the word conveniently. IMO I don't think Montreal moves Pacciorety without getting a reliable top 6 center or a first. If you look at Montreal's prospects, they're inundated with center prospects. https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/pages/montreal-canadiens-organizational-depth-chart

That doesn’t raise his value much. That’s not the same as a roster player being traded with term. Montreal doesn’t have the option of keeping him. They have made it clear they are not extending the guy. If anything, this limits the teams that he can be traded to and lowers his value.

Montreal doesn’t have much leverage here. He also is coming off a bad season and plays winger. This value isn’t close to what you seem to think.

Paccioretty agreeing to an extension pre-trade does not lower his value, c'mon. A bad season does not make a perennial 30 goal scorer that much less valuable. Montreal has all the leverage, they have 9 months to trade one of the best wingers in the game to the highest bidding team? You don't think a team would be willing to trade a 2nd line C for a first line wing?

It's not "the highest bidding team". You are missing the point that this would only work with a team Paccioretty agrees to sign with. This gives him control over where he goes, lowers the amount of teams he can be traded to, and lowers his value. It's not that complicated.

" You don't think a team would be willing to trade a 2nd line C for a first line wing?"

Certainly not when that winger has an expiring contract.

I'd be blown away if Montreal didn't already have an offer for a 3C (Haula) and 2nd and a prospect. Clearly they're trying to get more with a team he would extend on.

Make it brassard to montreal instead of kessel to VGK. We get haula and patches while vegas gets prospects and picks.

Like the idea of the trades. Don’t like The extension for Max. 6yrs @ 7 mil for a 31 yr old after the Jack Johnson contract really seems like a bad call to me.

one of the few trade proposal involving the pens getting pacioretty that isn't a obvious huge overpay, if you can get him to sign for what kessel is signed for right now than I think the deal is pretty good and still fair(to all 3 sides). That is the key to it though, him signing the extension.

I wouldnt hate this,
I think vegas gets the best end of the deal. But it would balance out the pens glut at RW
