MTL would you do it?

Description
There is definitely a trade waiting to happen if MTL is willing to take a little salary back... Sekera is a solid 2nd pairing dman and MTL has the ability to add the extra million in cap while adding valuable picks whether they would keep them or use them to acquire NHL talent and speed up their rebuild/retool.

From Edmontons perspective this is probably an overpayment and it is mortgaging the future however at some point you have to go for it if you wanna compete for the cup. If just making the playoffs is fine keep the picks and move forward. Patches would give EDM 2 legit scoring lines and free up the bottom six to contribute more goal share. The RW is still concerning but with McDavid + Nuge & Drai + Patches you have two elite combos on your top 2 lines.

Also i hope the Oilers bridge Nurse, much like MTL did on Subbans second deal which was 2 years at 3 million roughly. With that being said i do not feel like Nurse is ever going to be on Subbans level however a bridge deal for dmen allows the team and player to better gauge long term value.

That is rich haha have you watched Sekera play before? Or you just see he makes 5.5mill and figure because he isnt posting 40pt seasons he must be a cap dump.
Stick to the Sens you clueless putz

No that's incorrect. I know that he is getting old( 32), and was very injury prone last year, and posted a mere 8 point( all assists) in 36 games! He is also very slow and near the end of his career. He is not even worth close to the 5.5 million he is earning.

Hahah "very injury prone" he had knee surgery in the offseason which kept him out until the christmas break or later if i remember correctly and missed a couple games late. You clearly have no idea what your talking about considering you are the guy who thinks Stone is a better hockey player than Draisaitl. Sekera is not "very slow" he plays a methodical game but not a burner by any means and end of his career at 32 ?? wow

"he had knee surgery in the offseason which kept him out until the christmas break or later if i remember correctly and missed a couple games late". So yes, he is injury prone after that. And yes, he is still slow. I am not saying he is a bad player but he is not even worth remotely close to 5.5 million.

And I think that Stone and Draisaitl have very similar value...I just believe that a Stone for Draisaitl trade one for one is worth it for Edmonton.

Look up Sekera's games played for his career man. Apart from last season he had missed 3 regular season games in 2 seasons as an Oiler. You are implying that he is an injury prone player which is absolutely not true. He had knee surgery stemming from an injury sustained in the playoffs. The fact that he only missed half a season is impressive considering that injury keeps some people out for a full calendar year.
