So your solution is to pay Lucic 6 million until 2023 (where he will be 35 years old) and then pay Pacioretty until 2026 (where he will be 37). That's 13.5 million dollars from 2019-2023 to pay guys in their 30's who will be shells of their former selves. Sounds like a Chia thing to do.

Also, you put that Minnesota can't afford Dumba, yet your team is 3.5 million over the cap (without Pacioretty's contract) so the Oilers couldn't afford him either.

None of these deals make sense sorry

MTL says no they want NHL talent and picks ++
Edm is not dealing Nuge for Dumba, that conversation has been had in the past and with Bouchard and to a lesser extent Bear up and coming EDM is not dealing the Nuge for RHD

"How to fix it" is either time travel and never hire Chairelli the putz or to cut weight by offloading bad money contracts such as Lucic, Russell, Sekera, Kassian, Caggula. Allow young talent to fill the roster in the near future and never spend money on July 1
