Cap Compliant Somehow

Description
Believe it or not, it is possible for the Blues to be Cap Compliant on Opening Night without making a trade. Sundqvist is on a 1-way contract, but his entire cap hit can be buried in the AHL. Same with Schmaltz.

Lines are speculative, obviously, and based on Armstrong's comments after the O'Reilly trade. Adding Maroon is great Fabbri insurance since he can play anywhere in the lineup.

Let's be honest, you didn't acquire ROR just to play him at the wing did you?

IMO, your forward lines should be the following

Schwartz Schenn Tarasenko
Fabbri ROR Steen
Maroon Bozak Perron
Jaskin Barbashev Thorburn

Keep Thomas in the OHL for another year to keep developing his game (call up if necessary). I don't think it's beneficial to put a player of his caliber on the 3rd or 4th line, probably best suited as a 2nd line C to learn. You could play Schenn at top LW but he's young and a great C for the next 6 years for you guys.

I think you can try to move some guys and get a top 4 LD, that would help a lot. Other than that, I can see y'all making quite a solid run over the next few years.

I know y'all are linked to Habs rumours (i'm a Habs fan so I will address it) You don't need Patches. He would definitely fit in well but I don't think it's necessary. If you guys really are in for Price (which hurts me because I love him and think he will help MTL for much longer) you'd had to shed a lot of Cap like Allan and Bouwmeester, but it would cost you some top prospects

Anyways, loving the moves you guys did. Hope to see y'all make a good run. Cheers

He just put this because of Armstrong’s comments about Thomas possibly sliding ROR over to LW. They’d have him take the face offs but Thomas center so that he has two awesome linemates to get acclimated to the NHL.

You're right. But he's a guy who can play all three forward positions. The point is there's a lot of lineup flexibility and a ton of depth.

So the Blues expect Thomas to be the first line center this year? There will be a lot of Matchbox 20 playing in St. Louis this year.

Actually if we get him I would be mad. Price is injured half the time so I wouldn’t want to bother paying 11M for a guy who is injured most of the season. There’s no point in giving up a ridiculous amount of what you want when he isn’t worth it because of injuries.

Brayden Schenn would be the better move to wing. O'Reilly, Thomas, and Bozak down the middle is pretty strong for St. Louis. The potential for two strong 2nd line centers and Bozak is a strong #3. Good depth down the middle for St. Louis for a change.

Although I don't think the injury thing is something to be worried about, I understand the contract and trade implication issues. I do think Allen is capable to take you guys to the cup, and besides finding the right line balance, I think you guys just need a top 4 LD to anchor your back-line. Exciting times for st-louis

Yea. Next season if we can get rid of Bouwmeester and Gunnarsson.
