if your good and your giving up picks 28th or 30th overall is it worth it???? If you traded keiffer bellows you could get a 1st and maybe a 2nd or 3rd back for him. would you trade bellows and 4 first for Mathews and a 1st and 2nd???

The offersheet was the year prior. Don't need to include Bellows for anything in this situation. Either TOR matches the $15M per (which Matthews isn't worth - but in an offersheet you have to overpay) or takes the compensation required (four lower end 1st's)

no I get it im just saying for people who are afraid to give the picks up that you can get picks and its completely worth doing if you love the player. yeah 15 is way too much but hes an American kid, playing in ny for his old gm might be more appealing than the microscope of Toronto. The islanders have pieces, they had a great draft and wahlstrom is going to be an absolute stud. why not go.

15 million is way to much to pay anyone
Also Matthews would have to accept the offersheet and I don’t think anyone wants to risk playing on the islanders due to the fact you don’t have an NHL arena. You also have more fourth line guys the you know what to do with.

Also you can’t just raise the cap almost 10 million just to fit everyone in

I agree, but in an offersheet you have to overpay. Realistically, he's probably worth 12M but that would easily be matched. Need to give TOR something to think about. It's a win-win for Lou.

Question for you Islander fans... Im assuming Lee plays mostly LW but what would you split the percentage at between LW and C? Just curious.

You are right, he is only a LW. Not sure if Lee has the speed to play a true two-way game as a center. Probably more suited as a Wing with the ability to slide inside in an emergency.

Practically never. For example, Lee took 16 faceoffs in total last season. Pretty sure those only took place when the original C got kicked out of the circle for a violation too.

He played center in college. He hasn't played center at all for the Isles
