Description
O.Whalstrom and N.Dobson are joining the team in 2019-2020 and B.Wilde will join in 2020-2021. Adding 3 first round pick in 2019 is a must. NYI first pick is a lock to be top10, probably top 5 so another great rookie joining in 2019-2020. Getting many picks, rebuilding via the draft, as it should be, and the boat will turn around eventually...but 2018-2019 & 2019-2020 will be hard seasons. Rebuilding the right way takes time and hurts for a while!

Detroit will just put Zetterberg on LTIR so his contract wont affect the cap. SO we would basically be giving you a 2nd a 3rd and Svechnikov, who still has lots of potential, for a washed up boychuk.

There are actual rumors, right now, that they are trying to move his contract. Like every other team, they'll have to pay something for that contract to be moved. With that in mind, I don't think it's that far fetched.

And Boychuk isn't washed up. You're pushing it very strongly. He was hurt last season, but still is a 20+ min D-man with a very good defensive game, whose very physical and can also chip in offensively from time to time. A good reliable d-man, nothing flashy but gets the job done.

Not sure why you're doing a full on dump of players. The team is in better shape than you think. I also wouldn't be trading for young wingers with the likes of Wahlstrom and Dal Colle (still a slim chance) of being up very soon. I also wouldn't think of trading Lee, especially within the division. He'd be a perennial 40 goal score with Malkin/Crosby. I'm sure he'll be great with Barzal.

Dude they are not trying to move that contract. If Zetterberg doesn't play this year because of his back injury issues, they will place him on LTIR and his contract will not effect the cap hit once the season starts. Also his salary is only 3 million this year and then it drops to 1 million for the remaining years. Detroit is not a cheap organization and is not worried about his salary. So why would we give up Svechnikov(1st round pick in 2015, has potential to be a top 6 forward), 2nd rounder , and a 3rd rounder, for a declining "reliable" 34 year old defensive men with 4 more years on his contract.
