Pens wouldn't have to give that much up for Patches. He's a UFA, Hags and 2020 3rd would get it done.

Hagelin is a cap dump so the 4th and the 7th are to entice MTL to take him. Basically, you're saying Pacioretty for PIT '19 first round pick (surely between #22 and #31)...He's worth that low in your head? I mean, isn't he in the top10 for goals in the past 5 seasons in the NHL? Isn't he just turning 29 years old? You definitely went with your dreams more than with reality. Habs are clearly asking for Daniel Sprong, a first and more, JUST FOR PACIORETTY. If you add Hagelin to make it fit under the cap, then you need to add more for the deal to be accepted.

hagelin is not a cap dump at all, he is a key player for Pittsburgh, adding hagelin makes it overpaying rather than needing to add more. Pens would be nuts to give up that much for pacioretty.

Hum...trading for him now means you have him for a full season. Look for yourself, in pasts years, what that type of players were obtained for. You'll be surprise...since you clearly doesn't understand players values. And come on with Hagelin, he's worth nothing. 4M for an average 4th line player...and don't tell me "yeah but he's damn fast!" so what?? He's definitely not using it right, look at him play and look at what he accomplish recently. He's a cap dump, nothing more

Disagree on the Hagelin thing. He is still a good middle six forward and can be a tenacious forechecker and defender. A playoff team with cap space for just this season would likely be interested (Winnipeg, Toronto, Vegas).

This is similar to where Ottawa was able to take Ian Cole in the Brassard trade and flip him for a 3rd.

Fastest player on the team. Best PK forward. Plays 2nd line LW. Yeah you're right, definitely not a key player

2018 : WPG gets Stastny for 2 months and pay a great prospect (Erik Foley), a first round pick and a 4th round pick.
2018 : VGK gets T.Tatar for 3 years and pay a first round pick, a second round pick and a third round pick
2018 : SJS gets E.Kane for 2 months and pay a first round pick, a fourth round pick and an AHLer
2017 : WSH gets Shattenkirk for 2 months and pay a great prospect (Zach Sanford), a first round pick, a second round pick and a 4th liner (Brad Malone)
2017 : MIN gets M.Hanzal (plus R.White and a 4th round pick) for 2 months and pay a first round pick, a second round pick and a 4th round pick

So you're telling me that a guy in the 10 players with the most goals in the league in the previous 5 years, for a full year, at 29 years old, for Hagelin and a 3rd round pick is worth it!? LOL! Beat it, chum

10 goals and 31pts in 81 games while playing on the second line with Malkin and Kessel...yeah he's DEFINITELY a "key player". HUGE boost to both of 'em. Anyway, it's a lost cause trying to have a debate with blind fans like you guys...sad

So your logic is key players have to put up a lot of points? Yeah thats dumb lol. He's on the team for speed and defense, not to score goals and get points. Quiet down and have hockey knowledge before you speak

pacioretty had 17 goals and 37 points last year, would I rather have patches or hagelin? its pacioretty easily but to say hagelin is a cap dump while pacioretty is a superstar player is truly blind fandom.

So,by your logic, Anze Kopitar had 12 goals two seasons ago so he must not be a superstar. It is totally impossible for a player to have a bad season and still be a very strong player (warning...this is sarcasm). Top10 in goals in the NHL in the past 5 seasons combine...you're right, saying he's a superstar goal scorer is totally non-sense! (warning...this is sarcasm).

kopitar is also known for his all round play, he is great defensively(kinda like hagelin, hmm who would have thought defense matters...)

I didn't say that pacioretty wasn't a great goal scorer, I said to say one is a superstar while one is a cap dumb is nonsense. By your logic anybody who doesn't consistently score 30 goals a season is a cap dump.
