nylander is a proven 1st line player, you may be right that they WONT trade kravstov but it doesnt mean they shouldnt. Nylander and Zib is a core you can build off of immediately. I prefer Lias and Chytil over Kravstov and thats why i went with him

Absolutely no way TO trades Nylander for a guy they won't resign and a guy no one knows if he'll pan out. If TO gets Tavares, and thats a big if still, Nylander won't be the one to be traded. They'll move out depth guys for next years cap crunch and have cap room to upgrade spots in 2 years if young players rotating in can't handle the NHL. They'll have to be creative but its definitely doable. Trading Nylander would only happen if the Leafs got the better of the deal. Not because the guys you mentioned aren't good players but TO is just a better team with Nylander on it than off it. It only makes sense to move him if you are bettering your team.

extremely fair, i agree i think you keep Matthews,Marner,Nylander and Reilly and dump anyone and everyone else necessary but Zuc would replace Nylanders productivity next year almost directly with an option to re-sign at his affordable rate and then Kravstov would be a flyer. I'd throw in a B+ prospect as well not that it would make a huge diff

I understand where you are coming from, and many would agree with you. However, I feel the Leafs can likely get Nylander signed for 8 years at 7 million and that contract will look amazing if Nylander progresses into a point a game guy. (which if you are a believer in advanced stats, he almost should have been a 30 goal 40 assist man but had bad puck luck to start the season. ) In 3 years his 7 million contract could be one of the best in the league.

That sort of production can't get replaced for that much money. I say keep him unless someone comes in and really overpays for him. For example if Minnesota game in and gave Dumba + for Nylander, that is something you'd have to consider.

I agree Nylander is a proven first line winger but the Rangers just drafted Kravstov who they think he has an elite skill set. Most NYL fans (myself included) would prefer to trade Andersson first out of those three you listed but it would also depend on Nylander willingness to agree to a long term deal.

i think as of now i view it as Chytil>Lias>Kravstov....i see Andersson as that captain, leader, good contract, all sitution player down the line those guys have more intangible value than scoring wingers IMO . Nylander would love playing in NY, his dad loved it here and hes tight w Lundqvist and mika. Im sure he loves toronto but NYR would be right there on his list.

Yeah, I've toyed around a lot with the roster and its not that hard to get under the cap next season, its tough but doable.

heard rangers would be willling to take on Matt Martin right away as well as a small side deal and that would give instant relief

I don't think that will be hard to do to be honest. He isn't a terrible hockey player, adds a lot of energy and physicality on the 4th line without sacrificing too much. He can at least keep up with his skating. If JT isn't signed by TO, I can see Martin playing a regular shift this year.

I honestly believe they went with Andersson last year because they though he would be NHL ready and able to slide into the 3C slot which is why they took him over higher upside/more talented guys in Vilardi and Middlestat. Now if they could redo last years draft with the foresight of the last 12 months, without a doubt they take Vilardi and Middlestat over Lias. I agree that he has future captain material and can play in all situations but what the Rangers are missing are elite scoring wingers which Nylander completely makes sense but Gordie and Gorton are very high on Kravstov.

i dont know, i dont think that is true. Middlestat looks like a star but at the end of the day they might be comparable players. Im even less high on Vallardi. Andersson is a hockey player he may not be 90 points a year but hes a piece of a winning team and he had a pretty incredible year himself last year
