Kudos for a realistic offer. The Rangers made it very clear at the draft how they feel about their D situation, I can't see them passing on this. Foote is a big RHD blue chipper that the Rangers eyed during the McDonagh trade. Throwing in the 1st rounder makes it a done deal.

I think the idea is, two contract dumps = two assets. On the surface it might sound like overpaying, but remember that if this were to go through, Tampa's pick would in theory be at the very bottom of the first round, so its essentially a good 2nd round pick. If it's a 2nd rounder, then its like a good 3rd rounder etc....and I don't think a 3rd rounder would be enough.

Foote is the future, he is not going anywhere. Better plan put Cally on IR for the year do to shoulder. Keep Coburn till the deadline then trade for a seventh rounder at best. Keep out #1 and Foote.
