Description
It's widely rumored that Melnyk wants to be as close to the cap floor as possible next year. This shouldn't mean a fire sale and potential lottery season. The Sens can't be a lottery team this year considering they do not own their 1st round pick.

This would be a team with fast forwards but young D core that can grow together led by Superstar Erik Karlsson. They remain somewhat competitive and it gives extra time to prospects such as, Brown, Formenton, Chlapik, Gustavsson, etc, to develop in the minors.

      With that defense, they're a lottery team. That bottom 4 consists of a #5, a #6, a #7 and Wolanin, who looked fantastic but is still just a prospect who had a small sample size. Also, having Pageau as a 2C is a sign of lottery.

      I would temper your expectations a bit on what you're going to get in return for a 37 year old goalie coming off of a career worst season (Plus he's still owed $4.75 for the next two years).
