I normally scoff at trades of quantity for quality, but the Karlsson case is special. If Ottawa feels they will not re-sign him, then 3 years of Petry might be worth 1 year of Karlsson. Will someone else offer more than Petry? Maybe, but Lindgren is a little more, to start. The deal is not as nuts as it looks. With tweaks it could work.

Especially if you consider that Schlemko, while definitely low-value, is worth more than Ryan, who has NEGATIVE value.

Don't think Andrew Shaw and his contract are a fit in Toronto! I do think they might look to move either Borgman and/or Rosen but likely looking for picks or prospects.
