without a doubt Avs match offer sheet to Barrie at 5.75 and what's going on with the Laine and a 5th line?
Ward would need at least 3-4 mil per year.
      Like the idea though!

You can be assured that Miller and his 6m contract for one year is not going to be traded for 35rd pick overall. Gee by your scenario, the Flames would be better to sign Cam Ward for 6m a year.
Think the Sabres would give any assets (even minimal) for Burrows and his contract? Tyson Barrie offer sheet at 5.75m would probably be matched by the Avs.

liane on 5th if he doesnt make team out of training camp, just showing that he would be called up or somewhere in lineup

ward might be able to be signed super cheap, but i really dont know

I wish it was that easy to offload Millers contract. Personally would give Baertschi more. Not a ton but he's worked hard all year and good chem with Horvat.

I love how nobody answered the author's question. So I'll give it a shot.

No, I can't see this goaltending making the playoffs. I don't see Cam Ward as any better than Ryan Miller. Miller is a fine goalie and I'd focus on picking up another defenseman and one or two forwards. Like the Barrie addition. I'd get Boedker and use the Lucic savings on another top-9 forward like McGinn. Goligoski/Demers/Russell should be available in UFA and I'd add one of them. Honestly, the team above COULD make the playoffs, but guys like Virtanen/Rodin/Horvat/Hansen would need to elevate their game and those are big question marks. I'd rather have some veteran stability if I wanted to make the playoffs.
