most of this trade came from a wild fan. Nelson is a very good RHD. He's NHL ready, much better than Prosser and Murphy, and the Sabres are saving the Wild a ton of money. ROR is ROR. both players make the Wild better. Niederreiter is a 40 point player with a 5.25 cap hit, and Coyle is a 40 point player coming off of surgery. ROR is a vast upgrade over Coyle, making them better immediately, giving you a NHL ready RHD prospect, and taking about 5 mill back in cap, so they can keep players like Dumba, which helps them now and in the future.

You're underselling both Nino and Coyle. It's not like you made put them on the 1st and 2nd line in Buffalo... Both were also playing injured for a good chunk of the season, combined they are worth more points that ROR. The 1st is just a slap in the face. Losing the only RHS (Coyle) FWD makes the team completely unbalanced, double down on that and lose another (offhanded) RW in Nino is bad for the roster.

For all these NHL ready prospects the Sabres have why couldn't they make the worst team in the league last year, especially a d-man? Scandella and Risto were the only NHL quality d-men on the Sabres, the rest would be in the pressbox in Playoff teams from the Central. Acquiring a bottom pair d-man isn't a priority at all for MN.

I like ROR a lot, but he's a top end 2C, not a 1C. Watching Koivu over the last however many years and then seeing Staal the last 2 years shows the difference. I'd like him on the Wild, but not enough to overpay for him.

Trading away the 1st this year shouldn't even be an option for MN this off-season. The Wild's first pick last season was in the late 3rd round, and they lost another recent 1st to Vegas. 4 combined top-60 picks in the last 6 drafts if they trade away this year's 1st (not including Tuch).

Kunin, Greenway, and Sokolvo (longshot) still need AHL time; Kaprizov is 2 years away due to his KHL contract.

So yes, the Wild hang up. The trade makes them worse.

Parise/Staal/Granny
Zucker/ROR/???
???/Koivu/???
Foligno/JEE/???

Not a FWD group that will do much damage, and that's counting on a healthy Parise for a full season. Even freeing up Ennis' cap space only allows for 1 middle-6 UFA signing.

Wanna talk about underestimating then underestimate Nelson, who won a spot on Buffalos roster last year and was one of the Sabres better dMen, and then you say Scandella was one of the Sabres only 2 good dmen but he lost his spot to another rookie by the end of the year. Seems like you dont know as much about the sabres as you think you do

Columbus absolutely says so. We have no need for Beaulieu. And we need more centers, not less.

Yeah Kukan would blow him away??? Larsson is a center and was very good at face offs while putting up 20 points from the fourth line. I would be very interested to see him in CBJs system, he is more suited to their style
