"Jets make this trade if one of the coveted defensive prospects (Boqvist, Bouchard, Dobson, Hughes) falls to #10." I guess the same logic applies to the Oilers, that they don't make the trade for a one year rental.

I don't think Edmonton can afford to wait for a defensive prospect to mature. Larsson, Benning and Gryba are their only RHD under contract for 2018-19. McJesus deserves better.

plus it's Chiarelli...we all know this move would look like an absolute WIN in comparison to other Chiarelli deals of the past.

They can wait. And they should wait. Time to draft and develop. Enough assets have been lost trying to fill that need. Bouchard Dobson and Hughes are close to playing anyway, Boqvist is a couple years further. But they don’t need to make a panic move, especially for Myers who still doesn’t really fill the need of a puck moving PP quarterback

You also forgot Ethan Bear who showed a lot of promise at the end of last season

The way the draft is being projected, edmonton is not trade 10OA, they will be getting a very good player there.
