If Vancouver called looking for Nylander, Dubas would start with Petterson. I know Canuck fans are going to go insane over that statement but Nylander has 3 years worth of NHL playing time and has proven that he is, at the very least, a highly skilled forward in the offensive zone and at times utterly dominant. Petterson has proven that he's really good in Sweden. He is still an unknown.

That being said, Vancouver would say no and then Dubas would say then don't ask about Nylander.

So back to Tanev, yes Toronto is interested, they'll send a 2nd and a LHD prospect. Either Borgman, Neilsen or Rosen. We'll even thrown Marincin into it to give him a chance at cracking an NHL roster. Not enough?

Well consider that the Leafs could get Tyler Myers, who is a year younger than Tanev and has slightly higher value, for just a 1st rounder. So a Tanev deal would be a little less that.

You may very well be right about what the Leafs would give up for Tanev, but I'm betting that if all you had to give up for Myers was a late 1st he'd already be on the Leafs by now.

Chevy waits till the last possible minute to make trades, anyone selling is going to hold out for the desperate teams. Toronto isn't desperate, they had the 4th best offence and the 12th best defence last year. They aren't as terrible at defending as everyone says they are. Yes they allow a lot of shots but a lot of them are from the outside. They had one of the best differentials when it came to high scoring chances, meaning even though they give up a tonne of shots, they give up way less high quality chances than they produce. Dubas is going to sit back and relax and wait for a deal that makes sense.
