Well, you can't know that.. Why did Colorado suddenly make the playoffs after scoring 48 points and taking the last place and Buffalo can't? Dahlin is not McDavid, but we have a lot of good players besides Dahlin.

LOL, no you don't. You Have Eichel, ROR, Reinhart Risto and soon to be Dahlin. There are your better than average players.

BUF is atrocious on LW. When Hudon was given a chance he has played fairly well. He could easily be your top LWer as of right now (because what else is there). Obviously they should try and sign a guy like Neal or JVR but chances of that are likely fairly slim. Could always swap Hudon with Lehkonen but then TOR's 2nd would likely turn to a 4th.


Five stars for wanting O'Reilly
Take Moulson out of the mix, Buffalo does not need to move his cap hit, unless you believe he can score goals in the NHL.
IMO this is a close deal. Let's compare what DATM gave up to get O'Reilly:
Hudon, C. =< Compher but close
2018 1st round pick (FLA) < Zadorov probably the pick is a guess Zadorov is a very physical top 4 defenseman
2018 2nd round pick (CHI) < 2015 2nd round 31st over all
2018 2nd round pick (TOR) > Grigorenko + McGinn
I think Montreal would need to add. Remember O'Reilly did not have a contract, he is signed for the next 5 years. so his value is at least equal if not a bit more.
