ROR will still be the #2C in Buffalo in 18/19..... Mittelstadt needs to develop and mature which is where ROR will excel being a mentor for Mittelstadt..... ROR's value will not decrease from now until a year from now.... ROR is consistent so he will put up his baseline points, kill it in the face off area, play the PP & PK and GMBots will be able to move him a year from now and get similar value...... ROR does not have a no movement clause so GMBots does not have that restriction to deal with.....
Bottomline GMBots has all the leverage in the situation..... he can sit chilly and do nothing and his team will be served well with ROR on it or he can wait for JT to sign and then test the waters to see if he can be overpaid for ROR..... either way GMBots wins.
Five stars for wanting O'Reilly
That is a very good offer for O'Reilly. Galchenyuk, is 3 years younger, $2,600,000 lower cap hit, scores at .038pts/min v .036pts/min for O'Reilly
The 2 seconds from this year is about equal to SJS 21st over all, then we get another 2nd next year. That is much more than TML got for Kessel from Pittsburgh.
I should add, other than the first 4 over all picks, normally having more picks provides a greater opportunity of getting a good player, so these 3 seconds are most likely better than the 13th or 14th over all.
Lastly, you know how I feel about O'Reilly, if without trickery you announce that you lost your love of the game it was a sincere honest statement, I do not want players who do not love the game on my team.
Maybe Botterill could do better, but this is MUCH more than DATM gave up to get O'Reilly and most people thought DATM over paid.
