I am a wings fan and as much as i'd love this, the caps value on Samsonov is huge because he is their top prospect and would require more than Mantha and Jensen.

There's always the possibility that Washington sees their window for championships is as large as it will ever get. Holtby isn't exactly old yet and still has many good years left in him. Ovi's game is at his best ever. Would having Samsonov sitting on the bench during the next few playoffs be as valuable as adding Manthas size and scoring? They might decide to go for a better chance at multiple cup runs. Ideally i'd love to have Samsonov backup Howard for this year and next, re-sign Howard for a 1 or 2 year 3.5 mil deal, Samsonov playing 30ish games a year until he takes the reins. Perhaps including the 30th overall might entice them. 30th overall Barring a comeback from Vegas.

Change Samsonov to Grubauer and Florida’s second and the value is right about there. Samsonov is likely taking a year in the AHL to adjust. 3 Stars because this is definitely on the right track, but Samsonov is just about untouchable.

Washington will give up Grubauer now that they have samsonov.. not the other way around. Best bet is to work for Grubauer and let him and Howard compete.
