No from buffalo. Rather have scandella than alzners contract, one year of pacioretty doesnt get you 5 years of ror, and galchenyuk for reinhart is probably close but id rather keep reinhart. So that leaves baptiste and a 6th for a 2nd, which favors buffalo, but not nearly enough to offset the other stuff.

You get the NHL's 10th best sniper in the past 5 seasons for 1 year at a more than decent salary, one that will score you piles of goals playing with Eichel. Plus you get to sign him to a better deal than ROR the following season. Plus a 2nd rounder.

BTW, I hope you do take into account ROR is at best a 2nd line center in 2/3 of the NHL teams and is a little overpaid, right?

Five stars for wanting O'Reilly.
Great analysis, here is another way to look at it:
MTL
O'Reilly, R >= Galchenyuk, A. +2018 2nd is a fairly close trade with a slight favorite for Buffalo
Scandella, M > Alzner, K ($1,125,000 retained). regardless of the salary retained, I would rather have Scandella
Nicholas Baptiste + 2018 6th >= Michael McCarron IMO Baptiste could still make the team this year, McCarron appears to be an enforcer.
Sam Reinhart =< Pacioretty, M. I am making this equal due to the length of Pacioretty's contract. IMO Pacioretty is much more valuable than Reinhart
So if Buffalo could sign Pacioretty Buffalo I think Montreal would still need to add IMO CHI 2018 2nd round pick. If this pick is added to the Montreal side of the equation it sort of balances all of the assets. I would like to hear what you think.

So there are probably 20 teams that have a true #1, and a few lucky teams like pitt that have 2 better. Sure, id agree to that. His offense goes up if he isnt taking mostly d zone starts with subpar wingers. He is 27, locked up for 5 more years at 7.5. After july 1st, the real money paid out for those 5 years is about 6 per. That should have appeal to a team that isnt spending to the cap, the real money matters more to them. One year of pacioretty does not work here.
