The only way you get Trouba is with Ristolainen + pieces. No one's trading a franchise RHD without another, and Trouba is well ahead of Risto.

2nd that thought. Trouba is as valuable to the Jets as Eichel is to the Sabres and now that (it appears anyways based on Troubas comments) he's willing to sign long term they don't move him barring some gross overpayment or for another #1C.

Franchise RHD? My apologies I wasn't aware that "Franchise Defensemen" average 30 points a year (while only playing one full season) and a +6 rating after 5 NHL seasons. Top 4 defenseman? Absolutely. Trouba as a Franchise Defenseman? Take a loooooong look in the mirror.

I 2nd that O'Reilly = Trouba + Perreault since Stastny is a UFA his rights are not really valuable. I try really hard to be objective with the Sabres, but I think you undervalued every trade. Rodrigues is worth more than a 5th. If Bogosian is LTIR then he does not affect the cap so why just move him out. When he plays he is a 1b/2a defenseman (Same as Ristolainen). Lehner will definitely bring back more than a 3rd, a good 2nd. On the other hand it is nice to see a post where the Sabre players are undervalued.

Time to move on from Bogo. Simply a cap dump. Won't qualify as LTIR

I don’t think WPG has use not the space for ROR and same with ARI no use for BOGO or Rodrigues. They are undervalued but I also don’t see value for the teams involved too

If he gets hurt, like he usually does, he will. If the Sabres have a better option they’play probably just bury him. He costs to much for teams to take a flyer on

You are certainly correct that WPG does not need O'Reilly. I was commenting on the value of the trade not the merits, I was agreeing with the poster that Trouba is over valued and O'Reilly is too much for him unlike the other comments who value Trouba as a #1 Defenseman. What do you think of the ?

He’s a good RHD but if he went to NYR or OTT he wouldn’t turn that team around, franchise dmen change teams. If Dahlin plays right side though, which everyone is saying is his natural side, I don’t see much need for Trouba.

O'Reilly would be an ideal #2 C for WPG and flourish in a role like that.

I agree that Dahlin will play the right side and will help turn the team around. I also agree that Buffalo does not need Trouba if Dahlin plays RHD with Ristolainen and Bogosian. So is O'Reilly much better than Trouba.

Trouba is not a "Franchise D" as stated above by another poster however that doesn't change the fact that a 23 year old RHD playing in a top pairing role isn't as valuable as a #1C. Trouba does not have the point totals to call him an "Offensive Defensman" but he's a #1RHD at 23 years old logging big minutes against the oppositions best as well as top PK. The simple fact remains that Trouba will not be traded unless he demands out which he's already stated he's happy and would sign long term this off-season.
If you want to tag someone as a "Franchise" player because they've "changed the team" then I guess that makes Eichel not a "Franchise Center" yet does it as BUF has failed to make the playoffs since his arrival despite how amazing he is he's still unable to "Change the team" or "turn the team around"....
