That's way too much. It should be Bracco, 2019 1st, 2019 6th

I honestly don't see how its that bad, A.Brooks and McEneny are essentially throwins on both sides and don't need to be included, so in essence the trade is Bracco, Carrick, 2 2nds for Tanev , a 5th and a 7th. I don't know about you but I don't think that Carrick has a ton of value, he's mostly a 3rd paring defensemen with some offense, so the 5th and 7th should suffice. The trade than becomes Tanev, who despite his injury history is a solid 2-3 defensemen for the Leafs, plus he has some chemistry with Reilly and most importantly he's not overpaid. As for what the Leafs lose, they give up a decent prospect who likely plays a middle six role in the NHL and 2 2nds which aren't likely to be very high, plus more than anything they are unpredictable. If anything the offer you mentioned seems like more of an overpayment. I know you could argue that Carrick and Brooks still have upside but given that the Leafs are about to enter a cap crunch, they cant keep banking on upside for mid twenties players, they need to go out and get a proven product that can help this team make a playoff run before they have to pay the likes of Marner, Mathews Nylander.

Brooks has a much higher ceiling than this McEneny guy. Brooks can get as good as a top 6 center by the time he hits his peak

Don't know how Emelin and Komarov help in 2019. No cap space to pay 2019/20 Bonuses in in 2019/20 which probably isn't the best choice.

PensGoater99 at this point in time Brooks is an AHLer has been for a year now, if he had the upside you mentioned he would be higher on the Leafs depth chart. Secondly I agree 100% that Brooks has a higher ceiling, but to say that he could be a top six center is a bit silly. I could switch McEneny (who I could just as easily say has top four upside) with Zack McEwen and say that he has top six upside. Obviously the leafs give up on Brooks potential but to get hung up on stuff like comparing ceilings of two prospects who haven't proven anything at the NHL level, and don't have any type of significant pedigree is silly.

As for adding Komerov and Emilen the contracts are short term (2 year and 1 year) and last I checked I didn't mention any bonuses. I think those are reasonable cap hits for the respective players. Emelin plays a stop gap role before the likes of Lilegren, Dermott and perhaps Nielsen are able to take one bigger roles with the team next year
