Wasn't positive on if anything needed adding to the DET trade but figured Jensen is a depth D throw-in, so a potential two Top 4 D-Men for a top 6 winger seemed fair.

Cam Ward is the last person that Buffalo should be targeting for a tandem with Ullmark. He's been a below average goalie for years and is not dependable as either a starter or backup. Let alone to give him $2.6 of the cap for two seasons.

Carolina kept trying to push him out of the door and he continued to be their most reliable option for years. He was their Fringe Starter so to be Buff's backup is more than suitable for Ward.

I think the O'Reilly trade is very good for Buffalo. Rask will be a very good 3rd/4th line center who could fill in for the 2nd line in a crisis. Faulk is an excellent addition to the team. Julien Gauthier may need some time in the minors but he is a good prospect and worth taking a risk.
I hate losing McCabe but it may be worth the risk to get Svechnikov.

Detroit has no defense. I mean, they have bodies but not quality. McCabe is the prize here. Beaulieu is a flyer and DET needs young defense badly. BUFF could toss in a late round draft pick to make it work.

They have other routes towards building a defense than overpaying for our scraps. McCabe hasn't looked great in about a year and a half (although I do think he could rebound), and Beaulieu is a buyout candidate.

We've far better D men coming into our system then McCabe and Beaulieu. We've Hronek Cholowski possibly one of Hughes, Dobson, Bouchard or Boqvist in this years draft. Detroit will be fine. No need for McCabe or Beaulieu.
