Leafs need a RHD, not LHD

Toews has way more value. If we were trading him then we'd want a package of Borgstrom, Tippett, etc. Hinostroza will probably make between 1.5M and 2M. The first round draft picks likely won't be on an NHL roster next year.

For what Toews brings to the team, I would think he'd be worth a bit more than a 2nd line center and a mid 1st round pick.. maybe add another 1st or 1st round prospect. Just look at what Avs got for duchene! But I think CHI put themselves in a tough spot with a bunch of aging players with long term big money. They should've traded kane or teows sooner imo

Caps pass. Bura is a young top 6 talent, Murphy is at best a #4 guy, Caps already have 2 of those with Djoos and Kempny. Maybe if CHI threw in more and Caps found a replacement for Bura.

Barely. He hasn't played the way we have been a custom to seeing. These last 2 years have not been good and for a team who has serious cap issues this could make sense. Reminder he has a 10.5mill cap hit for 6 more years.

Washington passes on this. They have a ton of D prospects and Bura is a top 6 future winger for them. Maybe a pick or two would make it possible.

Nobody would trade a first line center with 3 cups for a middle 6 forward and mid first rounder. Teams would have to overpay for the Captain because the Hawks have no interest in moving him.
