Your trade doesn't make any since. I know Lucic has an outrageous contract, but Edmonton won't take Severson and mcleod for Draisaitl. They want something that will benefit their defense and they want to attack their issues head on in one fell swoop. Severson and Mcleod do not fix anything

So the trade is really Severson, D. + Mcleod, M. + 2018 1st round pick + and an affordable Lucic for Draisaitl. this is actually pretty close.
I know Mcleod has a big upside, I know Chiarelli wants to improve his defense and he has traded with the devils before, but think Chiarelli would want more in return for Draisaitl

To be honest, we hvae no idea what in the heck goes on in Chiarelli's mind so I guess anything can happen. Ben Lovejoy for Drat yes please. In his words "a sexy dman"
