Al Montoya is no NHL goalie, McElhinney is arguably the best backup in the NHL. Before you go criticising the Nylander sign, I gave him a bridge deal so he doesn't become a UFA, Nylander won't get 6 million, he's not Pastrnak. Carlson would be asking for 6 - 6.5 million range, this is not even a guess by me. I put for 7 mil because he'll probably get offered money like that if he goes to free agency.
so before you come out and say these things, back it up, and don't criticize, maybe actually mention ONE good thing. tell me that lineup is not strong.
Ya of course he isn't as good as Pastrnak, but he is just as good as Ehlers who also makes 6 million. Nylander has had back to back 60 point seasons while being capable of player center and Wing, but somehow you think he will take a bridge deal? Tough Sell
yes McElhinney is a really good back up and Montoya isnt the back up in Edmonton anymore(Still on the cap but will be in the AHL probably or put on waivers). the Oilers just spent 2 million on a 29 yr old KHL goalie. SO i hardly think they are going to want 4 million on the cap for 3 back up goalies.
you could be right with the 7 million signing of Carlson, but he frankly will be leaving money on the table if he takes just 7 million. he had more points then these 7 and over million dollar players ...Letang, Karlson, Burns, Subban, Buff, Doughty. Alll these players signed deals with their own club not on free agency, now put these guys on Free Agency and tell me how much they will make? Like Shattenkirk had 58 points and a terrible playoffs with the Caps and got 6.65. Now Carlson is a better Dmen then him and has followed up a great season with a really good playoffs.
the one good thing you have done is maybe getting right of Zaitsev.
