you really can't be serious.. Tom Wilson does not equal Simmonds. Flyers pass easily on that. I'd let him walk before we downgrade that significantly and only get Wilson.

Why does moving Simmonds for Wilson seem like the prototypical Flyer move?

Wowzers, if one in every five penalties lead to a goal against (20%), that's around 19 goals against from him being in the box.

I know PIM doesn't really work that way, and game misconducts are a thing, but still. Do you really think he improves your team THAT much more without being a liability?

Let alone the fact that he's definitely a step down from Simmonds.

Simmer is getting older and is slowly losing his spot as a top 6 F here and even lost his spot on the PP1 to nolan patrick so we may as well get something for him fast and wilson is a poor mans simmonds with less goals and more grit and will be cheaper than a simmonds extension, simmer cant be making 6+ just to be on the 3rd line

Simmonds hasn't played as a top-6 forward consistently for the last two years so this is nothing new. He also has never had a track record of being particularly amazing at 5v5, but he is way more valuable than Wilson. Wilson is not a poor man's Simmonds. He's a rich man's Rinaldo. He is garbage and can just train with Simmonds in the offseason some more or something, but the Caps thinking he was going to be their Wayne doesn't appear to be true. I just don't like the idea of trading Simmonds for a significant downgrade. I think it's fair to point out too that although Wilson spent approximately 500 minutes 5v5 with Ovi/Backstrom and 200 minutes with Ovi/Kuz he still finished with less points (equal 5v5) than Wayne whose top 5v5 partners were Filppula/Weal and Patrick/Weal all while playing with a groin injury and pins in his hand for the last month or so of the season.

So should I make the 3rd a 2nd?

haha if you want but there is still no way the Flyers would do that. It makes the team worse and they don't need more lottery tickets so the 2nd isn't going to move the needle
