Team is worse and you don't need to move Parayko to make room to sign Fas

Blues have drafted in the top 10 just two times since 1990 so that 6th overall would be pretty enticing. Unfortunately, I don't have enough faith in Tanev replacing Parayko's minutes because of his track record of averaging under 50 games per season and just 19:43 per night. If the Blues were committed to a rebuild, I'd take the offer, but they are planning to be competitive now. So they'd just be drafting a d-man at 6th overall and hoping for him to quickly rise to take on Parayko's role, all the while Schwartz/Tarasenko/Pietrangelo and company would be getting older and closer to their contract expiration. Blues are going to slow-play the next couple of years while their top prospects start to break in. We'll probably buck up for a top 6 forward / 2c just because we can't have a team of 19-20 year olds, but I don't see them selling off Parayko for a downgrade and picks.

Fair enough, thanks for the feedback. I realize the Blues would want a fortune in return for Parayko, I'm just a Canucks fan starved for a Dman that good.

Full tank at the end of the year could've raised the odds for Dahlin . I think worst case (picking 6-9) you'll still end up with a stud d-man like Hughes/Boqvist/etc from this draft. And depending on his development time, it might even work out better than if you acquired Parayko considering your best players are all 23-and-under.

I don't think Vancouver would do that.
