Big trade with Boston: Boston gets a heavy hitting, defensively solid, and nice offensive piece in Bogosian who is locked down for a long time, a strong prospect in Baptiste, and two rather high draft picks. Buffalo receives good offensive prospect in Khoklachev, all-round offensive defenseman Krug who becomes a cap casualty for Boston like Hamilton last year, and a 1st round pick. Both teams walk away from this trade satisfied.

LA Kings get a 1st round pick to help them fill in a depleted prospect pool and rights to Girgensons to sign to a cheap bridge contract and continue to grow to possibly fill in center spot behind Kopitar (May add another prospect like Brady in this but not sure value.) Buffalo gets a veteran who will play with Eichel and give him a goalscorer on his wing.

Buffalo then locks up Ristolainen and Krug long term and signs other players coming off deals to cheaper bridge contracts.

Sabres attract strong playmaker/2-way Boedker to a rather large deal to play with Eichel and Gaborik to make a powerful 1st line. Ben Lovejoy is signed to a cheap 1-year deal to solidify backend and give a veteran presence who knows Bylsma's system. Enroth returns on a 1-year deal to give stronger competition to Lehner on his first full year healthy to create a strong tandem.
