Can't think of any reason that JVR and/or Tavares take anything less than a 6-7 year contract with anybody! At this point, team preference, (winning) and long term security (perhaps with even less $), will get these signed. Probably bang on with value of Leivo, and why I think he might be part of a bigger package, but can't imagine Ottawa and all of their team and payroll issues taking on Martin? Pageau not a real fit it Toronto anyway! A bottom 6 center, can easily come from within, (Aaltonen,), or from veteran low end UFA at a whole lot less $!

Too light on term and dollars for JVR and JT....I also don't think they'll only have enough room to make 1 major add/re-signing and still have the cap space to pay performance bonuses/sign next year's RFA crop.

Not sure if that package gets it done for Pageau...but the Leafs will be in need of 2 centres this off season unless they plan on moving Nylander there full time. Even if, as the above poster suggests, Aaltonen is ready to make the jump next year, we'll need 1 more + a backup of some sorts as I don't think there's anyone else in the system that can be a C callup

Changed the scenario a bit. I bumped JvR up to a 6 year deal instead of 3. Realistically I could see him being content with 6x6 so that he can stay in TO. He loves it here. I agree that my 2 year deal with Tavares was shortsighted, so i changed that to 4 years, still at $9.5M. Personally I think that if Tavares signs in TO he will be signing to win the cup within the next 2-3 years. If they win he'll probably stay longer, and if they dont win I could see him walking, being 31 at that point. I believe the 9.5M is justified because a high caliber player like Tavares knows that if he plays in Toronto he will make bank on sponsorships and endorsements, so a slight paycut on what he is worth wouldn't affect him too bad and he wouldn't be hindering the signing of the 2019RFA crop (Matthews, Marner, Kapanen).

I agree that Pageau doesn't fit, got near the end of building this team and realized I didn't have a 4C. After revisiting it I signed Aaltonen as the Leafs 4C and brought Moore back for another year(despite Babcock's discontent with him). Aaltonen would be the designated 4C and Moore would probably end up splitting time with him in the case that Aaltonen isn't an immediate fit.
